No, we are not doctors or nurses. A doctor would be refered to as a geriatrician. A nurse would be a geriatric nurse.  Both doctors and nurses focus on your health, treating you with medicine and clinical treatments. We are gerontologist who focus on a holistic view of aging. We believe medicine is an important part of life but do not focus on that alone. We belive your life is comprised many team members. Only one part of your team are the medical professionals you currently work with and, if we identify a need,  we will make referrals to others we feel may help complete your team. We include several different areas in our assessment including psychosocial, environmental, financial, medicine, and other circumstances unique to each our clients.

No, we do not charge anything above our hourly rate. Our belief is there is no “one size fits all” model. Therefore, we do not feel comfortable charging a “membership” fee or a retainer. Some of our past clients don’t need us to be involved for a long time period. Sometimes, we can do an assessment, give you referral information, and you take the ball and run with it. Sometimes, your situation is very complex and a “moving target”. You need a professional involved for the duration. Another common scenerio; we do an assessment and referrals, then are asked a few months (or even years) later to step in and reassess the situation due to a change in cognitive status or medical changes. Each family’s budget and needs are individual to them so we want you to be in charge of how much you utilize our services.

No. Unfortunately, Medicare does not pay for our services. We are private pay, fee for service. Some Long Term Care Insurance policies will pay for our services. We only charge a flat hourly rate. There is no “membership” fee or long term comittment required to work with us. Our clients needs vary and, through our billing, we strive to meet your needs and be good stewards of your finances.
